When developer David Friedman launched 96 loft-style condos on DTC Boulevard in the heart of the Denver Tech Center a few years back, he had a no-brainer concept for a quick sellout: The community plan mingled loft owners with his Village Plaza dining/shopping enclave in DTC, already attracting Jason’s Deli, Illegal Pete’s, Rumbi Island Grill and a bunch of neighborhood shops. In 2008, The Tavern (restaurant-sports bar that sizzled in LoDo, then jumped to Uptown and Lowry) built a fourth bistro a football field away from his new homes.
